SPRING SUMMER 2025 COLLECTION

[ COUNTERPOINTS - BETWEEN OBJECTS,PEOPLE AND EMOTIONS ]

"Music is the silence between the notes.”

Capturing the essence of this collection, where absence speaks as eloquently as presence. RUOHAN’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection is an ode to the unspoken, a visual exploration of harmony and dissonance, where every garment is a note, every movement a phrase, and every silence a pause that invites reflection.

The collection narrates through the theme of counterpoints, meditates on the relationships between objects and structures, people and emotions. It is a study in contrast and coexistence: repetition and opposition, improvisation against the formality of classical music, and the poetic tension between symmetry and asymmetry. Here, straight lines embrace curves, and simplicity dialogues with complexity,
creating a narrative that resonates beyond fashion— An interplay of interactions.

The collection unveils itself across three levels of the Lafayette Anticipation. 42 looks, accompanied by 22 musicians and embodied by 21 models, fill the space with a visual and auditory composition. The journey begins on the first level with the soft chimes of xylophones and harps, gentle whispers in the stillness. Ascending to the second level, the deeper timbres of cellos and violas add layers of rhythm and texture. The experience culminates on the third level, where the bright sounds of French horns, trumpets, and flutes break through, a crescendo of unexpected brilliance.

The color palette, mirrors the collection’s conceptual journey, transitioning from the stark duality of black and white to the soft hues of nude, sandy beige, light brown, and earthy tones, before culminating in deep
navy and luminous gold. Each color, like a note in a symphony, is carefully chosen to reflect the evolution of thought and form.

The silhouettes, abstract shapes inspired by musical instruments give way to dynamic interpretations of the musical stave, exploring positive and negative space, harmony and dissonance. Intricate pleating and
unconventional draping echo the complexity of a musical score, a visual representation of the invisible connections that bind us all.

The fabrications, ranging from black and white matte jersey to hand pleated metallic-like linen, and from stave-lined printed cotton silk to water-soluble cashmere, form a rich symphony of textures. Deep brown and deep navy denim add depth and contrast, balancing the collection with their robust structure. From soft to rigid, together, these fabrics compose a tactile melody, reflecting the harmonious interplay between fluidity and form, much like the layers of music unfolding of Terry Riley “In C” played in the show.

Accessories and leather goods take on an exaggerated scale, reminiscent of childhood memories of carrying oversized instrument cases. These pieces, like the collection itself, invite the viewer to reconsider proportion and memory, juxtaposing the tangible with the ephemeral.

As the lights illuminate each level, following the rhythm of music and the models’ steps, RUOHAN’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection reveals itself as more than a series of garments—it is a meditative experience, an invitation to find beauty in the in-between, to listen to the silence, and to see the unseen.

As the show draws to a close, it leaves behind a lingering sense of quiet introspection. It is more than a presentation of garments; it is a reflection on the delicate interplay of chaos and order, an invitation to pause and listen to the whispers between the notes of our lives. In the dimming lights and fading echoes, the collection resonates deeply, a silent symphony that stirs the heart. It reminds us that in fashion, as in music, it is not just the crescendo that moves us, but the silences that allow us to feel, to breathe, and to
dream.
